01. Environmental awareness programme. The students of Vavuniya organized several exhibition programmes to create environmental awareness among students and public. The emphasis was on cleanliness, keeping ponds and rivers clean saving rainwater. Subu spoke to several students who participated in the programme.
02. District Hospitals. District hospitals in the upcountry are being forced to take on extra patients because the local estate hospitals aren’t properly equipped. Estate workers experience everything from liver disorders to malnutrition, and it’s this sheer variety of illness which is overwhelming the smaller estate hospitals. Our reporter Srithar spoke to Dr. M. Parameswaran, the man in charge of Bogawantalawa Hospital.
